The College for Technical Education (CTE) is a career-focused institution committed to providing hands-on training and practical education for in-demand careers. As the school continued to grow and expand its footprint, CTE needed a brand and marketing approach that could scale alongside it.

They were seeking a marketing partner to help modernize their brand, strengthen their online presence, and ensure consistency as they expanded their campus. The goal was to better connect with prospective students, clearly communicate their mission, and support enrollment growth while maintaining a cohesive identity throughout their expansion.

The Conundrum

It became clear CTE's marketing and brand presence was not keeping pace. CTE had worked with a previous marketer who lacked transparency, leaving leadership without clarity or confidence in their marketing efforts.

The college struggled to clearly communicate with and attract their desired target audience, and their existing branding did not reflect the institution’s evolution or expansion. Social media presence was fragmented, with accounts inconsistently managed across platforms and, in some cases, owned by individual professors — resulting in limited access, lack of control, and an overall disjointed digital footprint.

Without a cohesive brand system, clear audience alignment, or centralized ownership of their digital assets, CTE faced challenges maintaining credibility, consistency, and momentum during a critical period of growth.

A Sage Approach

Sage began with a full audit of CTE’s marketing, digital assets, and brand presence to establish clarity and accountability. This process uncovered major gaps, including services that had been billed but never delivered and restricted access to critical advertising accounts — an immediate red flag and barrier to informed decision-making.

From there, our team focused on restoring transparency and control. We worked to clean up and consolidate CTE’s digital accounts, ensuring leadership had full ownership and access across platforms. At the same time, we addressed foundational issues on their website, bringing it up to standard by incorporating missing critical information required for their nonprofit status and ensuring the site could properly support growth and enrollment efforts.

With a stable foundation in place, we led brand strategy sessions to better understand CTE’s mission, audience, and expansion goals. Together, we explored brand identity and messaging to create a look and feel that was more modern, authentic, and reflective of the student experience — while remaining scalable as the college continued to grow.

To ground the work in real insight, our team conducted on-site visits, immersing ourselves in campus life and speaking directly with students. These conversations informed how CTE shows up across marketing touchpoints and highlighted opportunities to improve engagement and better support the overall student journey.

By combining strategic brand work, account cleanup, digital infrastructure improvements, and first-hand student insight, Sage built an approach rooted in trust, clarity, and connection — setting the stage for meaningful, sustainable growth.

Results

Through a series of brand strategy sessions, CTE emerged with a clearer, more confident identity rooted in growth and purpose. The work resulted in refreshed messaging, a bold new color palette, and a newly designed logo that symbolized opening doors of opportunity for students—bringing their mission to life in a way that felt modern, authentic, and scalable.

To support enrollment and expansion, Sage led a comprehensive website refresh, improving functionality, clarity, and compliance. The updated site addressed critical gaps left by previous vendors, including missing legal information required for nonprofit institutions, while enhancing the overall user experience for prospective students exploring programs and taking next steps.

On the digital advertising side, CTE regained full ownership and transparency. We established a brand-new advertising account under their control, ensuring clear billing and performance visibility. To further support internal understanding, we brought in a Meta employee to guide the team through advertising policies and best practices specific to nonprofit colleges.

CTE’s digital footprint was expanded and streamlined through the launch of new Instagram and LinkedIn channels designed to attract prospective students, alongside a cleanup and reorganization of their Facebook presence for stronger engagement. In parallel, we implemented targeted PPC campaigns highlighting each of CTE’s five academic programs, increasing visibility and driving qualified student inquiries.

Together, these efforts repositioned CTE as a modern, forward-thinking technical college with the brand clarity, digital infrastructure, and marketing foundation needed to support continued growth and enrollment.
